On 25 September, the regional seminar dedicated to improving statistics and data for effective, inclusive and transparent climate action concluded its work.
The seminar provided an opportunity for detailed discussions on such priority areas as the development of climate change-related statistics, data coordination within the national statistical system, greenhouse gas inventories, energy, agriculture, forest and land resources, water statistics, air quality and atmospheric emissions.
The participants also exchanged views on environmental-economic accounting, disaster-related statistics, the dissemination of climate change-related data, and the use of geospatial data and statistical infrastructure.
During the concluding working session, the results of the discussions were summarized and priority tasks across the relevant areas were identified. It was noted that these results would serve as a basis for developing a national roadmap and a practical action plan for the advancement of climate statistics.
The closing event was attended by R. Makhammadiev, Deputy Chairman of the National Statistics Committee, responsible employees of the Committee’s central office, and international experts.
At the conclusion of the event, the parties agreed to continue cooperation in producing reliable and high-quality statistical data on climate change and widely introducing international experience.
