According to the National Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, at the beginning of the 2025/2026 academic year, the number of teachers working in general secondary education institutions in Uzbekistan amounted to 577.7 thousand, excluding part-time employees.
This figure increased by 12.8 thousand people, or 2.3%, compared with the 2024/2025 academic year.
Women accounted for 72.5% of all teachers, or 418.8 thousand people, while men accounted for 27.5%, or 158.9 thousand people.
The number of teachers by region was as follows:
Samarkand region — 65.1 thousand;
Kashkadarya region — 65.1 thousand;
Fergana region — 60.6 thousand;
Surkhandarya region — 52.3 thousand;
Andijan region — 46.3 thousand;
Namangan region — 42.6 thousand;
Republic of Karakalpakstan — 40.7 thousand;
Tashkent region — 40.2 thousand;
Khorezm region — 35.1 thousand;
Tashkent city — 34.1 thousand;
Bukhara region — 33.4 thousand;
Jizzakh region — 25.7 thousand;
Navoi region — 22.3 thousand;
Syrdarya region — 14.2 thousand.
