On December 21, the 63rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Statistical Services of the CIS was held via videoconference.


For information: The Council determines the directions of cooperation in the field of statistics within the framework of the Commonwealth; discusses and makes decisions on the most important issues of interaction on statistics; approves the work program of the CIS Statistical Committee, creates appropriate bodies and commissions to consider issues of statistical methodology, approves regulatory documents and regulations on them; interacts with international organizations. Since 2018, the Republic of Uzbekistan has become a full member of the CIS Statistical Committee and regularly takes part in the work of the Council of Heads.


This year, the heads of the statistical services of Azerbaijan, Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, the Russian Federation, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan will discuss a wide range of issues on the agenda, which includes:
- draft Work Program of the CIS Statistical Committee for 2022;
- an overview of the current practice of monitoring the SDGs in the CIS region;
- work on the implementation of paragraph 11 "Preparation of proposals on methodological approaches to information support for monitoring the socio-economic situation in emergency situations of international importance" of the Action Plan for the implementation of the first stage (2021-2025) of the CIS Economic Development Strategy for the period up to 2030;
- on the chairmanship of the Council of Heads of Statistical Services of the CIS Member States in 2022.

The meeting is attended by the Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics - Bakhodir Abdusalomovich Begalov.


Following the meeting of the Council of Heads, fundamental decisions were made that will determine the work of the CIS statistical services in the new conditions of the pandemic, the Program of Work of the CIS Statistical Committee for 2022, preparation and conduct of the population census for the 2020 round in the CIS member states will be approved. And also a decision was made on the chairmanship of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the next meeting of the Council of Heads of Statistical Agencies of the CIS in 2022.
