On May 11, 2022, at 15:00, a press conference was held at the National Press Center of the city of Tashkent on the topic “Preparation processes for the agricultural census”.
The press conference was attended by the chairman of the State Committee on Statistics, the leadership of the Institute for Advanced Training and Statistical Research, heads of sectoral departments of the committee's central office and media workers.
As noted at the press conference, the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated February 26, 2021 No. 104 “On measures to expand and improve the statistical database in the field of agriculture” was adopted.
In accordance with this resolution, in 2024, for the first time in our republic, a census in the field of agriculture will be carried out.
According to the resolution, in order to provide organizational, practical, methodological, scientific assistance to authorized state bodies and organizations in the performance of the tasks and functions assigned to them, taking into account the composition of the republican commission to promote the census in the field of agriculture, as well as the specifics of the regions and the need for a systematic and comprehensive solution topical problems on the ground, the standard composition of the territorial commissions was approved.
It was emphasized that the registration work will be carried out in three stages: the preparatory stage, covering 2022-2024, the second, main stage, including the registration event in 2024, as well as the last stage, when the received data will be analyzed, processed and summarized, and preliminary and final results will be published during 2024-2026.
One of the main issues of the preparatory stage is the conduct of campaigning work on the ground for active participation in the registration processes. At the same time, at this stage, in some regions of the republic, a census in the field of agriculture is being carried out on a test basis.
Based on this, the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 19, 2022 No. 197 “On measures to prepare and conduct registration work in the field of agriculture as an experiment in the Republic of Uzbekistan” was adopted.
In the field of agriculture, it is planned to test the organizational and methodological principles of registration, software and hardware, and technological processes for processing data.
In accordance with the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers “On measures to expand and improve the statistical database in the field of agriculture”, the census is carried out taking into account the following main indicators of agricultural activity:
✓ types of economic activities of agricultural facilities;
✓ labor resources and their demographic characteristics;
✓ land resources and the state of their use;
✓ area of agricultural crops;
✓ area of greenhouses, etc.
The working body of the Republican Commission is the State Committee on Statistics - the authorized body for the census in the field of agriculture.
In accordance with this resolution, in order to qualitatively prepare for the census in the field of agriculture, which will be held in 2024, in August 2022 it is planned to conduct pilot registration work in 2 territories of the Republic, namely in the Jomboy district of the Samarkand region and the Parkent district of the Tashkent region.
At the press conference, it was noted that the census activities in the field of agriculture in a test mode will be carried out on the basis of 6 types of census questionnaires developed in accordance with the census program.
The census in the field of agriculture is carried out with the aim of collecting, on the basis of unified statistical methods, reliable, objective and holistic, comparable with international data on various characteristics of agricultural activity at a specific time for each administrative-territorial unit on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
