On January 9 this year, in the committee of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on women and gender equality, specialists from the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan presented information on the website of gender statistics and other sources of information.

The committee meeting was attended by senators, representatives of the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, interested ministries and departments, members of the expert group under the committee, people's deputies, chairmen of standing committees of local councils on youth policy, women and gender equality and media workers.

Opening the meeting, Malika Akbarovna Kadirkhanova, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Women and Gender Equality of the Oliy Majlis, emphasized that in recent years the country has been carrying out large-scale reforms aimed at ensuring gender equality, achieving equal rights and opportunities for women and men, social and legal support women.

After that, Zoir Yuldashev, head of the Department of the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, made a presentation about the gender.stat.uz website and the information posted on it.

The website gender.stat.uz contains information on legislative acts on gender equality and the minimum set of gender indicators established by the UN, on the targets of the strategy for achieving gender equality in the Republic of Uzbekistan until 2030, as well as on other indicators of gender equality established by the Agency statistics.

Gender statistics reflect national statistics on the status of women and men in the social, economic and political spheres.

The site gender.stat.uz today hosts more than 160 indicators of gender statistics in 3 languages and in 5 different formats.

Of the indicators, 54 are minimal, formulated in accordance with the recommendation of the UN Statistical Commission.

At the same time, in order to enrich the site, more than 110 additional indicators were formulated and posted on the site.

As part of the “National Strategy for the Development of Statistics for 2020-2025”, approved by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, it was established that the number of indicators to be posted on the official website gender.stat.uz by the end of 2022 should be increased to 130. Currently the number of indicators is 160, while the site contains 30 indicators more than in the plan.

Also, the statistical collection "Women and Men" will be published in the annual periodical in 2 languages (Uzbek and Russian). In preparing the statistical compendium "Women and Men", statistical reports, sample survey data and departmental data from ministries and departments, submitted by more than 550,000 legal entities, were used.

Usman Abdurasulov, head of the information service of the Agency for Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in his presentation noted that in order to constantly inform the general public about gender statistics in our country, along with direct speeches in the media, articles on this topic are published in a number of newspapers and magazines. It also highlights information on gender statistics in the form of interesting infographic videos on social networks Facebook, Telegram, Instagram, Youtube in combination with publication on the official website.

The speaker informed the participants of the meeting that modules for comparing data on gender statistics in the form of interactive graphs, histograms and charts, as well as for forming a rating and determining the relationship between indicators, were introduced on the recently launched statistical portal of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The questions of the senators, experts, members of interested ministries and departments present at the meeting of the committee were answered in detail by specialists of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

As a result of the meeting, it was agreed that proposals would be developed to further improve the collection, compilation and publication of data on gender statistics to users.
