On February 28, 2023, at 15:00, a press conference was held at the National Press Center on the topic “Results of the work done in 2022 as part of the Statistical Work Program”.

The press conference was attended by representatives of the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, heads of departments, representatives of the Institute for Training and Statistical Research, the media and bloggers.

As noted at the press conference, the Agency for Statistics organizes its activities on the basis of the Law "On Official Statistics" and the statistical programs developed in accordance with it. The conduct of statistical observations, the formation and dissemination of statistical data in the field of official statistics, is developed annually, taking into account the needs of national and foreign users in statistical data.

In accordance with the Program of Statistical Works for 2022, approved by Resolution No. 61 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated February 7, 2022, 2,968 statistical works were completed on time, of which 1,705 were performed by statistical agencies.

In total, the agency generated 1,364 indicators, of which 499 are macroeconomic indicators and balance sheets, 545 indicators of economic sectors, 180 indicators of the social sphere, and 140 of the Unified State Register of Enterprises and Organizations.

Ministries and departments submitted 445 administrative data to the statistical bodies for the preparation of official statistics, and other compilers of official statistics within their competence prepared 817 statistical works.

The work performed in accordance with the Program was regularly provided to national and foreign users in the form of open statistical data, newsletters, collections, press releases, as well as through the media, official websites and social networks.

The agency posted 16,459 news on its official Telegram channel and Facebook page, and almost 700 news on the Instagram page. More than 50 videos with infographics were posted on the official YouTube page. 32 infographic videos and 304 videos about statistical activities were continuously broadcast on the republican TV channels.

In the "Official statistics" section of the agency's official website stat.uz. 400 sets of statistical data were published on macroeconomic indicators, national accounts, prices and indices, industry, agriculture, the standard of living of the population and a number of other statistical areas.

In 2022, 46 questionnaires of international organizations were completed, including 10 of the UN Statistics Division, 7 of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, 9 of the UNESCO Institute for Statistics, 2 of the International Telecommunication Union and 16 other international organizations.

Taking into account the recommendations of international statistical practice, 36 new methodological manuals were developed in 2022, and 9 were improved.

In addition, Uzbekistan's indicators were timely updated in 4 international databases, in particular, within the framework of the general information dissemination system of the IMF, the CIS, "COMTRADE" and "TRANSMONEE".

In order to make it easier for users to search for official statistical data, the siat.stat.uz portal was launched on the basis of the integrated information system "Statistics". Currently, the portal hosts and constantly updates a total of about 1,700 official statistical indicators in the form of 10-year time series. This data is hosted in 3 formats (Excel, PDF and JPG) and for data integration in 3 machine-readable formats (CSV, JSON and XML).

To create additional convenience for respondents, due to the integration of 15 administrative databases, 9 statistical reports were canceled, 3,174 indicators were reduced in 62 statistical reports and periods were optimized in 47 reports, the eStat-4.0 information system was finalized for statistical reporting using advanced information technologies.

This year, the practice of obtaining information on prices for goods through integration (web scraping technology) with large shopping malls, such as Korzinka, Makro, Media Park and Asia.uz Supermarket, was launched.

To date, to monitor more than 17,000 products in more than 30 large shopping malls across the country, regional statistics officials receive price information online on tablets without visiting the mall.

The methodology for calculating the indicators of national accounts, carried out by the Agency of Statistics, is fully consistent with the rules of the international methodology "SNA-2008".

As a result of improving the Open Data Portal, improving the quality of data, the number of data sets published on the portal has reached 6,757 to date. In particular, the number of data sets published by the Agency on the portal has amounted to 4,548.

As a result of the work done:

- the SIAT information portal received a positive assessment from experts from international organizations, including Open Data Watch;

 - Uzbekistan climbed to 40th place with 66 points in the Open Data Inventory (ODIN) ranking and retained 1st place in Central Asia. According to "Open Data Inception" among the countries of the world, Uzbekistan ranked 4th in terms of the number of open data sources with 124 open data sources;

- Uzbekistan received the highest score (Very High OGDI) in the Open Government Data Index according to the e-Government Survey 2022. In total, about 200 countries were evaluated in this index;

  - Uzbekistan scored 32 points in the Global Data Barometer (GDB) and ranked 58th in the world;

- According to the rating system of the Open Data Institute (ODI), the official website of the agency (stat.uz) has reached the highest level - "Platinum" (PLATINUM);

- The UN has included Uzbekistan among 87 countries of the world with the most advanced experience in covering the achievement of sustainable development goals.
