During the session, the delegation met with Stefan Schweinfest, Director of the UN Department of Statistics, Director of the Statistical Committee of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) Rachel Beaven, CIS Interstate Statistical Committee (K.E. Laikam), Director of the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Center for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) (Nebil Dabur) by the leadership of UNICEF Headquarters (Mark Hereward and Attila Khancioglu).

In addition, negotiations were held with the heads of the Department of Statistics of Malaysia (Mohd Uzir Mahiddin), the Department of Statistics of Singapore (Eng Chuan Koh), the Korea Statistics (Hae Ryun Kim), the National Statistical Office of the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation of India (Nivedita Gupta), the National Statistical Office of Thailand (Pyanuch Vuttis), from the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics of the United Arab Emirates (Hanan Ahli), the General Statistical Service of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (Fahad Al-Dossari), heads of statistical departments of the Central Asian and CIS countries.

The main purpose of the meetings and negotiations is to inform about the large-scale reforms carried out in our country and achieved results, as well as to establish close cooperation in organizing and improving the activities of the Statistics Agency in the framework of the administrative reforms of New Uzbekistan, as well as implementation of the latest international recommendations and best practices.

For reference: The UN Statistical Commission, established in 1947, is the supreme body of the world statistical system. It brings together the heads of statistical offices of UN member states from around the world.

It is the main decision-making body in the field of international statistics, in particular, the development of statistical standards, concepts and methodologies, and their implementation at the international and national levels.

It is also a functional commission of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), helping the council develop national statistical systems and ensure the comparability of national statistics, coordinate the activities of UN specialized agencies in the field of statistics, and improve statistics and statistical methodology.

During its more than 75 years of activity, the Statistical Commission has become the main platform for the discussion and adoption of major international standards, conceptual definitions and guidelines in all areas of statistics.
