On February 5 of this year, a meeting was organized at the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the permanent representative of the United Nations Population Fund UNFPA and Nigina Abaszade.

From December 24, 2023, Nigina Abaszadeh began working as the Permanent Representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in the Republic of Uzbekistan and, as part of her mission, on February 5 she arrived on a visit to the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

During the meeting, the Director of the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Begalov Bakhodir Abdusalomovich, congratulated Nigina Abaszadeh on her appointment and discussed further areas of cooperation with UNFPA.

During the meeting, Nigina Abaszade noted the increased relevance of the Statistics Agency as a provider of high-quality statistical data, the important role of conducting a population census as a source of information in forming a detailed picture of the population, its gender and age structure, living conditions and migration.

The meeting participants emphasized that the census is a source of basic data for developing and planning national policies, as well as monitoring the country's development.

The meeting participants also agreed to continue to further strengthen cooperation in preparing joint projects and initiatives that need to be undertaken in the future.
