On 5-7 June 2024, in Samarkand, the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, jointly with the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Division, is holding a regional workshop "Industrial Statistics" within the framework of the project "Development of statistical indicators for improving industrial statistics and analysis of industrial development in some countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia".

For reference: UNIDO was established in 1966 and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. The organization has 170 Member States and a network of 29 regional and intergovernmental agencies around the world.
The main goal of the organization is to stimulate and accelerate industrial development in developing countries and countries with economies in transition, as well as to develop international industrial cooperation.

The organization supports initiatives to promote environmental sustainability in industry and expand access to clean energy. It also encourages sustainable industrial consumption and production patterns.

The regional seminar, which is being held on June 5-7, 2024 in Samarkand, is attended by responsible officials and experts from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The agenda of the seminar included reports by responsible officials of the participating countries on topics such as "Key indicators of industry statistics", "Research work in production", "Digital economy in production", "Composite indices of industry indicators".

The head of the Industrial Statistics Department of the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Dzhuraev made a presentation on the topic "Ongoing reforms and long-term plans to improve the efficiency of the national statistical system of Uzbekistan and industrial statistics".

The presentation provides detailed information on the work carried out on industry statistics, in particular, on issues of increasing the role of information systems in industry statistics, improving the methodology for forming indicators on the demography of industrial enterprises, improving the methodology for forming existing indicators on the technological development of industrial production based on international recommendations and manuals.

The presentation also touched upon the priority tasks that are planned to be implemented in the future in the industrial statistics network.
A number of discussions took place between the participating states and responsible experts of the International Organization on the main issues on the agenda of the seminar.

At the same time, at the seminar, representatives of all participating countries shared their experience and proposals for improving the methodology and observations of industrial statistics.

Based on the results of the seminar, priority tasks were identified that are being implemented within the framework of the project to implement the best practices of the participating states, further improve the methodology for forming the main indices of industrial statistics based on international recommendations, and study the experience of developed countries in forming a multifactor index of labor productivity in industry.
