On June 28 of this year, the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized an online meeting on the topic "Reducing the shadow economy is the key to creating equal opportunities for entrepreneurs."

The event was attended by the Director of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and employees of the sphere, as well as online deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, specialists of the State Budget Department of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Tax Committee under the Cabinet of Ministers

At the event, the Director of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Begalov Bahodir Abdusalomovich provided information on the work carried out by the Statistics Agency to improve the assessment of the informal economy and the statistical assessment of the shadow economy.

It was also noted that the adoption of Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. UP-6098 dated October 30, 2020 and Resolution No. PP-4796 dated August 3, 2020 served as an important basis for expanding the coverage, improving the quality and reliability of statistical information by improving the statistical assessment of the informal and shadow economy in Uzbekistan.

Information was provided in more detail on special sample statistical observations conducted in August – September 2020 in Kashkadarya region and in May-June 2021 in Namangan region, in August 2023 in 165 districts of 14 territories of the Republic of Uzbekistan in more than 7 thousand households, to study the costs of transport, accommodation and food, culture, education and healthcare.

At the event, the Head of the Department of Macroeconomic Indicators and National Accounts of the Statistics Agency, Abrorali Mamadzhanov, made a presentation on the topic "Organization of statistical assessment of the informal and shadow economy". In his presentation, he spoke about the unobserved economy, its components, international recommendations on the assessment of the informal and hidden economy, the experience of foreign countries and the work carried out in this direction by the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
