On June 28 of this year, the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan held the "Eng yaxshi kitobxon" competition in the framework of fulfilling the tasks noted by Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 28, 2022 No. UP-60 "On the development strategy of new Uzbekistan for 2022-2026", Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated December 14, 2022 No. 781"On the approval of the National Program for the Development and Support of Reading Culture for 2020-2025", also by Order of the Agency No. 96 dated May 13, 2024 on the development of reading in the system of the Agency of Statistics, the assimilation of modern knowledge, to improve the general skills and cultural level of employees.
The event was attended by employees of the central office and the working group on the assessment of reading literacy.
The competition was held in 2 stages, that is, at stage 1 there were test questions, at stage 2 the reader had to tell about the work he had read, and the working group on the assessment of reader literacy conducted in the form of questions and answers on the work.
The winners were determined by the working group on the assessment of reading literacy based on the opinion of the employees who participated in the competition about the books they read and the answers to the questions asked.
The winners of the "Eng yaxshi kitobxon" competition were:
Bakirov Bunedbek, an employee of the Department of Macroeconomic Indicators and National Accounts – third place;
employee of the Department for the Development of Digital Technologies and Interactive Services Yuldashalieva Odina – second place;
Salikhova Gulbakhor, Head of the Department for Dealing with Appeals from Individuals and Legal Entities and Control over Performance Discipline, took first place, the winners were awarded cash prizes.
