The 73rd plenary session of the Conference of European Statisticians is taking place in Geneva, Switzerland, from June 16 to 18, organized at the initiative of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).
This high-profile event brings together the heads of statistical offices from 54 countries, as well as representatives of around 15 international organizations. The Chairman of the National Statistics Committee, Behzod Hamraev, is participating in the conference from Uzbekistan.
The conference focuses on key areas of official statistics development, including the role of national statistical agencies in an evolving data environment, measures to combat data misuse and disinformation, and improvements in migration statistics and methodology.
For reference: On April 22 of this year, during the election of members to the UN Statistical Commission for 2026–2029 in New York, Uzbekistan was unanimously elected as a member of this body for the first time in its history.
