On December 9-18 this year, a mission dedicated to technical assistance to the Office of Price Statistics by Brian Graf, Chief Economist of the Statistical Office of the International Monetary Fund, was held at the State Committee on Statistics.
During the technical mission, the expert provided detailed information on the fundamental and methodological foundations of consumer price statistics, in particular, the processes of calculating and forming indices.
Recommendations were given on the use of alternative data sources for consumer price statistics and methodological foundations for organizing observations. During the technical mission, the expert gave detailed answers and practical recommendations to the questions of the Goskomstat employees on issues related to the organization of observations.
The technical mission took place in a sincere and friendly atmosphere. In particular, the expert highly appreciated the work carried out in Uzbekistan to organize observations and calculations of the consumer price index.
The expert also noted that he is always ready to cooperate in the future on issues related to consumer price statistics.
