On May 29, 2023, the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized a round table at the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. It was attended by employees of the central office of the Agency for Statistics, faculty, researchers and students of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies.

At the event, students were provided with detailed information about the law “On official statistics”, as well as the ongoing work in the field of foreign economic activity and trade in our country.

As noted, the economic reforms carried out in our republic serve the rapid growth of trade relations with foreign countries. In particular, the decisions taken to increase the export potential will allow local companies to gain more experience in foreign markets. Ultimately, they will have a competitive advantage in world trade.

As a result of measures implemented in the republic in recent years to stimulate exports, optimize imports and, in general, to ensure a balance of foreign trade, in January-April 2023, the foreign trade turnover in the country amounted to 19.6 billion US dollars and increased compared to with the same period last year, by 2.3 billion US dollars, or 13.4%.

Foreign trade turnover is the sum of the value of exports and imports of the country for a certain period. The statistics of foreign trade in goods keeps records of goods that are added to or subtracted from the stocks of material resources as a result of their import (import) into the customs territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan or their export (export) outside the customs territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the basis of the general foreign trade accounting system.

To date, the Republic of Uzbekistan has trade relations with 176 countries of the world. The largest volume of foreign trade turnover was recorded with China (17.0%), Russia (15.1%), Kazakhstan (7.7%), Turkey (5.4%), the Republic of Korea (4.1%), Germany (4 .0%), Kyrgyzstan (1.7%).

As a result of the round table, an agreement was reached with the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies to hold such events on a regular basis.

Specialists of the Agency of Statistics answered in detail all the questions asked by the participants of the round table.

Students who took an active part were presented with various statistical collections and books.
