On June 12-15, 2023, a workshop was held in Ankara, Turkey on the benefits of moving to a population register-based census.

This seminar was organized by the Statistics Division of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the United Nations Statistics Department, the Statistics Division of the United Nations Economic Committee for Europe United Nations, United Nations Population Fund, Statistics Division of the United Nations Institute for Asia and the Pacific, Economic Cooperation Organization, Center for Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Education of Islamic Countries in cooperation with the Turkish Institute of Statistics.

The seminar was attended by specialists from the countries of Central Asia and the Republic of Turkey.

The heads of the department for organizing and conducting census processes of the Agency on Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Nurali Shukurov and Kuatbay Saparov, as well as the head of the statistics department of the Navoi region Askar Tashnazarov attended in the seminar.

The workshop provided training on the benefits of moving from a traditional population census to a registry-based population census.
