On September 5 of this year, the Agency on Statistics hosted a practical seminar on the topic: “The use of geographic information systems in the preparation and conduct of a population census”. The seminar was attended by employees of the Organization's department and the Agency's census processes, as well as employees of territorial statistical bodies.

At this seminar, the participants were given the concepts of Geographic Information Systems, their application in the preparation and conduct of the population census, in particular, practical work was carried out with an electronic map in the Quantum GIS (QGIS) program.

For reference Quantum GIS (QGIS) is a free cross-platform Geoinformation system consisting of desktop and server parts: QGIS Desktop - desktop GIS for creating, editing, visualizing, analyzing and publishing geospatial information.

Following the results of the seminar, the participants were given explanations on their questions.
