On September 28-29 this year, a practical training was held aimed at improving skills in data journalism and working with open data.
The organizers of the training: the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan and the International Center for Retraining of Journalists.

23 journalists and bloggers participated in the event, and experienced trainers of the International Center for Retraining of Journalists showed them how to use open databases and effectively use fact-checking methods in sorting them with the help of examples.

The main purpose of the training was to improve the skills of journalists and bloggers, in the effective use of the open data base, as well as the development of their practical skills in the preparation of interesting and high-quality materials.

During this training, the following issues were considered:
- introduction to data journalism and exploring the advantages and disadvantages of data journalism;
- recommendations for working with open data in Uzbekistan;
- the level of work with Google tables, as well as filtering and systematization of data;
- stages of enriching the material with the help of multimedia tools.

At the end of the event, the participants mentioned the need to increase the number of such practical trainings. They also emphasized the importance of the media's role in improving the resources that provide open data and identifying their shortcomings.
