On October 19-21, 2023, the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Representative Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in the Republic of Uzbekistan organized the second meeting of the National Coordination Mechanism on the “labor migration program in Central Asia”.


The event was attended by representatives of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment, the International Organization for Migration, the Central Bank, the External Labor Migration Agency, the National Center for Human Rights, as well as representatives of non-governmental non-profit organizations.


Deputy Head of the Department of Demography and Labor Statistics Abraev Sherzod Khurramovich took part in the seminar on behalf of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The seminar presented the further development of cooperation between states in migration issues within the framework of the “labor migration program in Central Asia”, as well as the measures currently being implemented.

The participants also exchanged views on the issues of introducing a system of safe and orderly migration, complete information about migrant workers, creating a unified database, vocational training for migrants and improving financial literacy.
