On May 28, 2024, a regular meeting of the Bureau members of the ESCAP Committee on Statistics of was held.
The Bureau Meeting was attended by: Ms. Rachael Joanne Beaven, Director of the Statistics Division ESCAP, Mr. Batdavaa Batmunkh, Chair of the Bureau of ESCAP Committee on Statistics (Mongolia), Mr. Gobinda Prasad Samanta (India), Ms. Piyanuch Wuttisorn (Thailand), Mr. Eng Chuan Koh (Singapore) and Deputy Director of the Statistics Agency participated Agencies of statistics – Zokhidjan Ziyaev.
Let us remind you that the current composition of the Bureau members of the ESCAP Committee on Statistics was elected at the 8th session of the ESCAP Committee on Statistics, which took place on August 23-25, 2022 in Bangkok/Thailand. Bakhodir Abdusalomovich Begalov, Director of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, was elected to the post of Deputy Chair of the Bureau of ESCAP Committee on Statistics.
On the agenda of the meeting, the participants considered the following issues. A draft of the new structure of the ESCAP Committee on Statistics was presented by the Secretariat and consultations were held with members of the Committee's Bureau.
The Bureau members discussed the stages of preparation and the agenda of the 9th session of the ESCAP Committee on Statistics, which is scheduled for autumn 2024.

During the meeting, all members of the Bureau made their suggestions and they presented some recommendations on the issues on the agenda.
The parties agreed to continue mutual consultations and finalize the draft of the new structure of the ESCAP Statistics Committee, which will be submitted for approval to the 9th session of the ESCAP Statistics Committee.
