From July 8 to 19 of the current year, the 11th Summer Seminar on Population was co-organized by Statistics Korea (KOSTAT) and the UNFPA at the Statistics Training Institute in Daejeon, Republic of Korea.
The seminar was attended by representatives of statistical offices, government agencies, and research institutes from the following countries: Uzbekistan, Belize, Burkina Faso, Djibouti, India, Mauritania, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, China, Republic of Korea, Philippines, Sri Lanka.
From the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the workshop was attended by the chief specialist of the Division of Labor Statistics Indicators of the Department of Demography, Labor and Gender Statistics, Tairova Aliya.
During the seminar, professors of the Australian National University Edith Gray and Vladimir Canudas-Romo tald about the basic concepts of fertility and mortality from a demographic perspective, measuring of fertility and mortality, ways to project fertility, life expectancy decomposition, models of mortality.
Practical training was also provided using programs such as Excell, Stata and R.
