On September 9-12, 2024, a regional workshop on climate change and biodiversity accounting for Central Asia and the Caucasus was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, organized by the United Nations Statistics Division and the United Nations Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific with the support of the Office of the Director General in Statistical Policy Planning, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications of the Government Japan and in cooperation with the National Statistical Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Head of the Department of Industry Statistics Yuldashev Begzod and Chief Specialist of the Department of Agriculture and Ecology Statistics Dehkanova Nigorakhon took part from the Agency of Statistics under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The event was attended by representatives of the statistical services of the countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Mongolia and Uzbekistan, as well as experts from international organizations such as the United Nations Statistics Division, the United Nations Statistical Institute for Asia and the Pacific
During the workshop, participants were given the opportunity to expand their technical knowledge of the environmental and economic accounting system (SEEA) through exercises.
Also, the exchange of country experiences and discussions on accounts related to climate change and biodiversity, including reports on energy, atmospheric emissions, carbon emissions, ecosystem scales and ecosystem services.
