From November 15 to 17 this year, the Fourth International Seminar “Application of Big Data in Official Statistics” was held in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China. The workshop was organized by the Global Big Data and Official Statistics Center in Hangzhou and the UN Statistics Division.

This seminar was attended by specialists from the UN Statistics Department, the National Bureau of Statistics of China, Mexico, Brazil, Uganda, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan and other countries.

The seminar was also attended by the head of the department for the development of information and communication technologies and interactive government services of the Statistics Agency under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Odilov Shokhrukh Gairatzhonovich.

The main goal of the seminar was to work with data from satellite and geographic information systems when receiving and processing large volumes of data in the statistical system, as well as the use of modern technologies in the formation of agricultural statistics and the exchange of experience on methods for the widespread use of statistical data.

During the seminar, participants exchanged views on the advantages and disadvantages of using data from satellite and geographic information systems in the processes of generating agricultural information. The use of the Google Earth map platform for generating agricultural data, methods for collecting and processing large volumes of data were also discussed.
