On August 24, 2026, a five-day training course on improving agricultural statistics began at the National Committee on Statistics with the participation of experts from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).

The course, organized with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA), is attended by 36 staff members from the Committee’s central office, regional departments of statistics, and the Institute for Staff Training and Statistical Research.

The training sessions are conducted by experts from the Turkish Statistical Institute — Devrim Yağan, Emre Erçin Sarısoy, Ali Arancı and İlknur Serap Güzel.

On the first day of the course, the participants learned about Türkiye’s statistical system and external relations activities, agricultural data needs, key definitions and classifications, as well as the register of agricultural entities.

During the five-day course, participants will exchange experience in such important areas as crop and livestock statistics, agricultural crop balance sheets, economic accounts for agriculture, price statistics and food security.

The training course will continue through August 28.
