On July 24, 2019, a resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers "On conducting a multi-indicator cluster survey in the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2020-2021" was adopted.

Based on this decree, the government of the country, with the technical assistance of the UN Children's Fund, UNICEF, is carrying out various measures to monitor the formation of important statistics on the lifestyle of mothers and children.

The main purpose of the MICS survey is to compare data on the living conditions of the population, as well as the results of the survey of women aged 15 to 49 years, the exact data on children under 5 years from their mothers or guardians and all data collected by the standard of living of the population, place of residence (city or village) and gender, at the international level on a national scale.

It should be noted that MICS surveys were first conducted in 1995, and from 1995 to 2020 in 118 countries around the world, maternal and child health, women's reproductive health, children's rights and their level of education, healthy and physical development of children were studied. and also summarized statistical information about them.

The 6th round of the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey has now begun.

As a result of the Multi-Indicator Cluster Surveys in the Republic of Uzbekistan, together with UNICEF, statistical data on the lifestyle of mothers and children in the country will be updated and these data will be reflected in international databases. According to the survey, the generated indicators cover 40% of the total indicator of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for households. This, in turn, will contribute to improving the indicators of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the "Rating of the effectiveness of statistical activities" of the World Bank.

The observation process will be collected electronically on tablets in 14,520 households located in 726 selected makhallas across the Republic of Uzbekistan, through personal interviews with respondents in the field.

In order to prepare for the Multi-Indicator Cluster Survey on January 11-16 this year, a number of events, training seminars and organizational work are being carried out jointly with the State Statistics Committee and UNICEF.

In particular, on January 14 this year, in the Bunyodkor mahalla, Yangiyul district of Tashkent region, training sessions were held in a test mode on the implementation of the work “Mapping and Census” in Multi-Indicator Cluster Surveys. These trainings were conducted by Goskomstat and the coordinator of the UNICEF Office in Uzbekistan, as well as by foreign experts.
